In class this year, these are some of the mathematical areas we will emphasize:

 

Place Value:  

• Numbers and Operations using 10s, 100s, 1000s

• Identifying Value of Digits (based on place)  

• Rounding Numbers to the Nearest Ten, Hundred and Thousand.

 

Basic Fact Fluency (speed and accuracy):

• Addition

• Subtraction

• Multiplication

• Division

• On-Line Resource (school/home): Xtramath.org

 

Problem Solving and Mathematical Thinking

• Read word problems carefully, identify unknowns (what do I need to figure out?) and apply strategies that are accurate and efficient.

• Write/record, draw and demonstrate mathematical understanding.

• Explain thinking to others and be able to approach solutions in flexible ways.
